Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse is landing a new role, as the actor is set to star alongside Lana Condor in New Line’s HBO Max Original feature Moonshot.
According to a report from Deadline, Sprouse will join the film, which is said to be a romantic comedy with a sci-fi twist. Moonshot is set in a future where Mars is terraformed and colonized by the best of humanity. Two very different college students wind up joining forces and sneak aboard one of the space shuttles to the planet in order to be reunited with their significant others. Sprouse will star opposite Lana Condor, who is set to play a college student named Sophie.
Mike McGrath of Berlanti/Schechter Films will executive produce the film alongside Dana Fox. Moonshot represents the second feature collaboration between Berlanti/Schechter Films and HBO Max, where the film will drop, with the first being Unpregnant. Sprouse’s most recent starring role was in the hit film Five Feet Apart, but he’s been a recurring star on the CW show Riverdale for some time as Jughead.
No release date has been announced for Moonshot.
